This project focuses on the application of Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) to assess and optimize the acoustic and vibrational characteristics of a 48-meter sailing yacht. SEA is a powerful tool for predicting and analyzing the energy flow in complex structures, making it an ideal method for understanding and improving the noise and vibration performance of a yacht.
Vibration Analysis: Perform a comprehensive SEA to analyze the structural vibrations of the sailing yacht. Identify key components contributing to vibrations and assess their impact on both structural integrity and onboard comfort.
Acoustic Analysis: Evaluate the acoustic characteristics of the yacht, considering both onboard noise generation sources and external environmental factors. Identify areas where noise levels can be reduced to enhance the overall experience for passengers and crew.
Transmission Path Analysis: Investigate the transmission paths of vibration and noise within the yacht. Identify critical paths that require attention to minimize energy transmission and improve overall comfort.
Material and Design Optimization: Assess the impact of materials and design choices on the yacht's acoustic and vibrational performance. Recommend modifications or alternative materials to optimize the structural integrity and reduce noise and vibrations.
Crew and Passenger Comfort Assessment: Utilize SEA to evaluate the comfort levels of crew and passengers, considering the effects of vibrations and noise on different areas of the yacht. Propose design modifications to enhance overall comfort.
Dynamic Response to Sea Conditions: Simulate the yacht's dynamic response to various sea conditions and analyze how these conditions influence vibrations and noise levels. Provide recommendations for design changes to minimize the impact of sea conditions.
SEA Model Validation: Validate the accuracy of the SEA model by comparing simulated results with real-world measurements taken on the sailing yacht. Refine the model parameters to ensure reliable predictions.
